Common Plumbing Issues with Sinks - Replacing a Sink to Proper Cleaning

Sinks are the lifeline of our kitchens, bathrooms and workshops. Keeping your sink and countertops properly maintained is very important to prevent water from going where it is not supposed to go! Sinks need to be properly caulked and set to make sure that water not only drains correctly, but that in the case of an accident or spill that water won't have a chance to escape into a wall cavity or into cabinets where it can begin to cause damage.

Replacing a sink is not a terribly difficult task, but there are some very important issues to understand before starting. First and foremost, you need to know the dimensions of your sink and the 'cutout' of the countertop. Generally, countertops are difficult to cut, so you want to be sure what you're getting into if you are enlarging the size of your sink. Then you need to think about if you are going to replace your fixtures: Do you need to drill any holes or have too many for your new fixtures? Are the holes properly spaced?
